Loving Others Enough to Tell the Truth

ree

Have you ever felt that pull?

That moment when the Holy Spirit nudged your heart and opened the door for you to speak truth to someone—but you hesitated?

You felt the weight of what needed to be said… but fear crept in.

Maybe you feared they’d be offended.

Maybe you didn’t want to be misunderstood.

Maybe you told yourself, “Now isn’t the time,” or “I’ll pray for them instead.”

But here’s a sobering thought: when we stay silent in fear, we may be standing in the way of someone else's freedom.

"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."John 8:32 (KJV)

Truth is what sets people free—not our silence, not our comfort, and not our good intentions. And truth doesn’t originate from us—it comes from God. It’s not about us being right. It’s about God being revealed.

"And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment."John 16:8 (KJV)

Conviction is the Holy Spirit’s job, not ours.

But love? That’s our part.

And real love doesn’t stay quiet while someone walks toward destruction.

"Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful."Proverbs 27:6 (KJV)

Too often, we confuse love with niceness.

But the Bible doesn’t say love avoids conflict. It says love rejoices in the truth.

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is say what needs to be said—even if it risks comfort or closeness.

And if you’ve ever thought, “But they won’t listen,” remember:

You’re not responsible for their response.

You’re responsible for obedience.

"But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:"Ephesians 4:15 (KJV)

Friend, this is a calling.

You and I are not here to preserve shallow peace.

We’re here to point people to Christ—the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

That might mean lovingly confronting sin.

That might mean correcting false beliefs.

That might mean having uncomfortable conversations that the world would rather we avoid.

But if we stay silent, who will speak?

"Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?"Galatians 4:16 (KJV)

Let that verse settle in.

Let it remind you that the truth will sometimes cost you something—but it’s worth it.

Because you never know what God might do with one seed of courage.

Today’s Challenge

  • Don’t let fear stop you from speaking what God has placed on your heart.

  • Don’t value comfort more than someone’s soul.

  • Don’t let false peace rob someone of real freedom.

Love boldly. Speak truthfully. Trust deeply.

Let God handle the results.
